Finally, after gathering all this information, I am left with a big challenge - find a way to make the Drama Discipline page to look somehow different, using the HCC template and keeping the same appearance as the other discipline pages. It is very hard to manage to create something different when you are given so many limitations...

Beginning of the last part of my Internship
This week finally my client, Mr. Ed Muth, managed to get us to meet the person in charge of the Discipline page for HCC. Mr. Daniel Fiedler, despite his busy schedule, received us and took the time to explain to us the way Plone CMS functions. He also emphasized the importance of uniformity of the pages for HCC. After he explained all the policies and guidelines, he directed us to the person in charge of Learning web. Mr. Ruben received us immediately and went through the specifics and limitations of what can be done there.

Tons of Pictures...
This week was dedicated to photography. "Arsenic and Old Lace" is playing!
I had to spend two entire evenings photographing the play. (I took over 2,000 pictures only the first evening!)
An evening was also dedicated to filming parts of the real play (not the rehearsals any more) for the documentary of "The Making Of".
I also had a special posed photo shoot after one of the evenings, that allowed the actors to recreate scenes from the play. I also took their individual pictures. These are very important for the creation of the archive pictures of "The Making Of" and the documentary film.
I retouched all the pictures and delivered them to my client, Mr. Muth for publicity purposes.

Publications and Logo
The posters I created for the play have been published online, including on a very reputable website - Art's Hound. I am really excited!
This week I continued taking pictures of the rehearsals. This is the last week before the opening of the show. I also interviewed the last 3 actors for "The Making Of" documentary.
I was also informed of the final decision of the Fine Arts Department about their 30th anniversary logo. One more thing completed for my Internship!

Presenting more logos...
This week was dedicated to developing the four "finalists" from the first 6 pages of different logos I presented last week to the Fine Arts Department Chair. It was a big challenge to develop at least one page per type of logo, keeping the same feel yet differentiating it somehow.
There was a big meeting at the Fine Arts office, where many people were present and everyone gave me input and directions to go. Finally, the decision is in their hands to make.

Lots of Logos...
This week I presented the first over 40 logos to the Fine Arts Department. Since I was told to go crazy and come up with logos, I had a big variety of styles. Everyone seemed thrilled about them. We narrowed the selection to 4 logos that I had to develop.
The instructions I received were that it had to be simple, beautiful, eye-catching and express the following terms: art, synergy, involvement in the community, young, energetic..... and absolutely no use of symbols!

Action shots and 1st Logo meeting
This week I delivered the "action shots" or also called "publicity pictures". Mrs. Carla Webbles, my mentor, needed those for all the publications and publicity for the play. She complimented my work and seemed really pleased.
I got to interview the costume designer, a Lady who did a wonderful job on the costumes.
I also had my first logo meeting. I met with the Fine Arts Division Chair, who gave me the task of creating a logo for their 30th anniversary. We agreed that I would create a few pages of very different logos and we would decide from there what direction we would go.

Set Designer & Action Shots
This week I delivered the two posters for the play. Mrs. Carla Webbles will have them printed in the best possible quality for the budget she has available. She will also be using them for smaller promotion material.
I did two very different photo shoots for the publicity pictures. I retouched both sets to be able to deliver them next week.
I also did an interview with the set designer, someone very interesting and passionate about his work. I took photographs of the set from the paper sketch, through the paper model, and will keep doing that until it is finished.

Work on Poster
During my weekly meeting with Mrs. Carla Webbles and Mr. Ed Muth we discussed dead lines for the poster. The publicity has to be sent out for print next week in order to have the materials ready beginning July, on time to advertise the play.
We reviewed possible formats for the publicity pictures.
We looked at the progress made on the integration of a skull image inside the lace image for the poster, via Photoshop.

Work on Lace
This week I worked on the creation of two posters. I had to do some extensive Photoshop work to combine different photographs recreating the mood of the play. I had to find the perfect font to use for a 40s play. I had to overcome a few aesthetic challenges, arranging al the mandatory elements in harmony without overloading the poster.
However, my biggest challenge was to create in Photoshop a smiling skull out of lace and integrate that in the original image.

First Drafts of the Poster
This week I had a meeting with Mrs. Carla Webbles and Mr. Ed Muth where I presented several sketches of different ideas for the poster. Prior to that I had to read the play and do a massive Internet research of the artwork already presented for that play. Since it is a very successful play from 1940, I found 68 original posters for it. I had to come up with ideas that are different from anything already created.
After I presented my sketches, we decided what direction to go. I did two big photoshoots to crate the base for the poster.
In the mean time, I keep going to the rehearsals and taking pictures for "The Making Of" the play.

My First Meeting
This week I had my first meeting with Mrs. Carla Webbles and Mr. Ed Muth.
We talked about the requirements of my internship, of dead lines and decided on the way to proceed with the creation of the poster for the play. The first stage will be a huge research in order to get the feel for a 40s play, 40s movie poster, 40s typography, imagery, etc.
I also started taking pictures of the rehearsals.
It appears the I will have an extra project to work on - the creation of the logo for 30th Anniversary of the Fine Arts Department.
